Total Solar Eclipse 2006, inner corona

On this picture one can see the inner corona of the sun. The corona is a glowing gas layer around the sun, much dimmer than the normally visible part (photosphere) but much hotter, up to 2 mio. Kelvin. The photosphere is 'only' about 5800K hot.
