Lanzarote is the most primitive of the Canary Islands. Volcanism is still youngest here and the landscape is very special. Unlike Tenerife, the whole landscape here is not overgrown with half-finished building ruins. But unfortunately there are also typical tourist settlements, where you actually have to walk around for an hour one evening until you find a Spanish restaurant. I have been to Lanzarote twice, each time for a week.

But look what the scanner has revealed on this image. The exposure time was measured with the built-in light meter. Fig. 25: Palm standing out the shadow in the valley of Máguez. I saw this effect of light and shadow the day before while I drove up the pass. But it was too late to set up the camera so I came back the next day on time and waited one half hour for this special light which lasts only a few minutes. I was just walking from the parking lot along the road with my camera bag and the tripod, when a guard came and threw me out of the park: "No professional photographs!"
