Tenerife, Canary Islands
Tenerife is the island most designed for tourism and is accordingly heavily built up. In the hinterland, however, you can still find primeval areas with winding mountain pass roads. The Teide volcano, which extends from sea level to 3718 meters, is particularly impressive. We had a hotel room in Playa Paraiso, not far from the Remmidemmi stronghold of Playa Americana. We spent most of the time under water with Heinz Scheffler's Baracuda Club Tenerife .
Fig. 1 : Unfortunately, these ugly concrete bunker hotels are very common on Tenerife. Many of them are still under construction or are standing around unfinished. A blight on this beautiful island. Fortunately, most of them are only in the south at Plaia Americana and Plaia Paraiso. — Minolta XD-7, Fujichrome Astia 100, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, July 2002
Fig. 2 : Playa Paraiso, Tenerife - not Legoland, Danmark :-) At least these pretty buildings have style! But unfortunately ugly tourist bunkers are the most common buildings in this environment. And there also many construction sites and ruins of once begun and never finished buildings. Fujichrome Astia 100, July 2002
